Is the Temple Ready Yet?

This weekend we had a great opportunity that likely won't come around again for a while. The Gilbert Temple Groundbreaking Ceremony was held on Saturday morning. So, we went.

We were told that they set up 5,000 chairs. By the time we got there, all the chairs were taken and it turned out that over 7,500 people actually showed up. So, we got to sit on the ground. Keep in mind that this is a construction site and before that was an alfalfa field. We were encouraged to bring blankets, but we didn't think far enough ahead to bring lawn / camp chairs. Oh well.

Nevertheless, it was a beautiful day; warm, but not hot. The hard ground wasn't as uncomfortable as I feared it would be. Bridgette was a doll and the talks were enjoyable. Also, the choir was fantastic. Really, one of the best I've heard. But the best part was, after the first set of speakers, Bridgette jumped up and asked, "Is the temple ready yet?" We'll work on patience...

Maren got all teary when she contemplated that Bridgette may well marry there one day.
