This weekend I got to travel to a legal seminar in Colorado. I was really looking forward to this - mostly for the learning experience, but I won't deny that I didn't mind the idea that I'd get 3 nights of kidless sleep.
Don't fret, Kevin has not had it so bad. Viv pretty much sleeps through the night now, and if she does wake up (like she did the first night I was gone), it's to gulp down a bottle and go right back to snoozing.
Nevertheless, Kevin assured me he did not sleep well (Is it wrong to feel happy, because he sleeps better with me by his side?), and Bridgette didn't get her best night either. In fact, Bridgette woke up with a nightmare about tarantulas.
While she and Kevin gathered blankets and stuffed animals from her bed to bring to his (where he indulgently let her cuddle up), Bridgette sorrowfully exclaimed to her dad, "I hate nighttime."
My poor little princess. I am sure her exclamation is true. It is the rare night that Bridgette goes easily to bed. She loves to be up with me and Kevin. Many times as she clings valiantly to wakefulness, I fall asleep first.
Shhh. Hush, sweet girl. If you'll but sleep peacefully now, tomorrow will bring many more grand adventures.
