Vivifying!

Once I got to the sweet spot of pregnancy (when the nauseousness was finally behind me), I began to nest.

At Pier 1 Imports, shortly after learning we were having a girl, Bridgette and I discovered the most colorful and flowery picture.  We knew this would make Vivienne's room a happy one.  Plus, the picture had the added benefit of having lime green in it, which matches the large chair from Bridgette's baby room.  It's a very comfy chair, which will now be perfect for Vivienne's late night feedings too.

I then recruited my sister-in-law Jen to help me make letter blocks.  Jen cut the vinyl.  Nick cut the wood.  and I modge-podged on the scrapbook book paper.

Next, I got excited about spray paint! All the creative types right now seem to use spray paint to redo and update the neatest things.  I was inspired by my friend Linnlee - who has spray painted picture frames and and cake stands - and also by my sister-in-law Karen - who has had mirrors, frames, curtain rods and more spray painted in her home.

Kevin had several Pottery Barn shelves, left behind by friends moving out of town, which have sat in our closest for 6 years.  I suggested we make them bright PINK!

Fortunately, Kevin was around to do the hard work (spray paint fumes aren't good for pregnant women you know).  He meticulously sanded down the shelves, sprayed on a base coat, and then sprayed on the color coats. Only later did we learn from our experienced friends that the exhausting job of sanding was not really necessary. I think Kevin's enthusiasm for future spray painting has been curbed.

I got in a little spray painting action too, doing a bulletin board green and starting on an orange basket.  Bridgette also enthusiastically helped, and we painted one shelf purple for her room so she wouldn't feel left out.

Lastly, we've been filling the room with cheerful knick knacks. My favorite its our sign of V words, which we composed ourselves.  We hope these words will all be reflective of our little girl.

Now all we have left (aside from filling the pictures frames with actual pictures) is to wait for the bedding to arrive.  The crib is pictured below with a pink polka-dotted crib sheet from pottery barn.  And you can also see a beautiful quilt made for Vivienne by a client of mine.  But we're waiting on a bumper and bedskirt in yellow, which I ordered online from Etsy.  We'll show a pic when it arrives.

Above all, I want Vivienne to know - if she reads this when she's older - that we have been super excited for her arrival and a lot of love went into preparing a place for her. xxxooo
