We truly had a marvelous 4th of July! After days of 110 degrees plus, we finally got some monsoon rain, and the weather dropped into the 70's. Per the weather report, this was the coolest 4th of July here in 20 years.
Fortunately, the rain didn't keep the kids from swimming. In fact, it only made it more fun. And the adults were actually able to enjoy sitting outside on the patio, eating barbecue and chatting away.
Later in the evening, after our friends and family had gone home and after we'd taken naps, we turned on the PBS broadcast of the Capitol 4th. Bridgette, Kevin and I all snuggled close under a blanket on the couch and watched the fireworks show. In a few years, Bridgette will be ready for a live show, but the televised one was enough to impress her this year. And Kevin and I just enjoyed being home with our own little firecracker!

The directions look fabulous as well as the food. Sorry we missed out on the swimming.
