The triathlon was in Anthem, waaaay northwest of our home. So, we chose to get a hotel nearby for the night before. Maybe that was not the best idea - everyone slept HORRIBLY. It's hard to get a hyper 6 year old settled in a strange place.
Ready, set.... go! The race began, and we were off and running! ... like turtles.... i'm not kidding. We were the absolute last on the run. I think the poor nights sleep was showing. Plus, i believe Bridgette was literally the youngest kid out there.
The bike portion started off better. Sort of. Bridgette might have been a little bit whiny on the long uphill section. Ok, a lot whiny. Particulary when the top of the hill I told her about, didn't turn out to be the top of the hill. But we did pass some people. Not last! Yeah!!
When we finally DID get to the top of the hill. What a relief! You could practically hear Bridgette going "Weeee!" Downwards. I relaxed my guard and started taking pictures of Bridgette:
Notice how she started angling right for the cone? Yes, that cone was the enemy. She ran right into it! Crash!
I give Bridgette big kudos! After hugs and kisses, she got up on her bike and rode again. We were once again last, but we kept going!
Bridgette was so excited to get to the swim. There was one boy in the pool, about a lap ahead of her. She charged into the pool - looking adorable - and passed up that boy. VICTORY! She was so proud.
Bridgette's fan club was waiting for her when she finished.
Go Bridgette!! (some of our neighbors even made her a poster)
On the drive home, exhaustion set in. Kevin carried her into the house and tucked her in for a long nap.
