This spring, Stanford came to Arizona as part of a new Stanford Connects program. Former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor came and spoke. Likewise, the President of the university spoke and several professors each gave interesting mini lectures.
Mom and I attended the lecture on stem cell research. The female professor from the med school was clearly enthused and overwhelmingly optimistic about her subject. Unfortunately, her lecture got cut short when she herself suffered a medical emergency. I would have liked to have learned more (I'd really like to know if saving all those cord blood stem cells is worth it!).
Kevin and I took advantage of the event for a weekend get-a-way. We arrived at the Westin Kierland the night before the Stanford event began and celebrated our 7th anniversary.
