Those who know my Mom best, know that she is a political junkie. I think that I first discovered this when she worked on Eddie Basha's campaign for Governor of Arizona. He supported education, so she supported him.
Eddie didn't make it to Governor, but he had a surprise victory over AZ political stalwart Terry Goddard in the democratic primary. A photo of Mom and I celebrating at the Basha campaign party appeared on the front page of the local paper the next morning.
While my mom hasn't actually worked on campaigns that I can recall since then, she constantly keeps abreast of political news. I rely on her to keep me informed - who is involved in what scandal of import!
So, this fall, during the campaign of Rich Carmona for Senator (to replace the seat of John Kyle), Bill Clinton came to ASU. Mom and I drove down to Tempe together and got in line with hundreds of others. We stood outside, squashed together on the grass, and finally... got to hear the former president speak. Pretty cool.
