We figured, her hair would eventually cover up that small flat spot in back (she was just tooo good a sleeper), but her pediatrician finally got worried that her ears were getting out of alignment, so helmet it was! The picture of her in the yellow dress was taken on our first day at the Hanger Prosthetics office. The picture in the stripey onesie below is from the day of her first fitting.
Getting used to this helmet stuff was a little exhausting...
But, she's now been wearing her helmet for approximately 3 weeks. Kevin keeps referring to her as Magneto. And it's amazing how many compliments on your eyes one gets, when only the eyes can be seen. :-)
As for Viv, she doesn't seem to be bothered by the helmet at all. In fact, she's so used to her "protective" gear now that when we take it off (an hour each day for cleaning) she has a tendency to ram her her head into things. She is also constantly pulling her self up into a standing position, while holding onto stools, bath tub ledges, etc. The helmet convenient, when she's bonked back down onto the ground.
