Bridgette's First Testimony

Today was Fast and Testimony meeting. Last month, Bridgette said that she wanted to bear her testimony, but I hesitated to take her up. So when she asked again today I thought I'd better support her, and up we went. We were going to be the last ones to speak, but better late than never, no?

While we were waiting on the stand, I asked her what she was going to say. Good thing I did because she told me that she was going to talk about how Mitt Romney wanted to be our president. I course corrected by telling her that our testimonies needed to be less political and more spiritual in nature.

When we got up to speak she started off really well. She said "I learned my Heavenly Father and Jesus love me. On Saturdays and Sundays." Maybe we need to loose the limitations on Devine love, but a good start!

Then Bridgette threw me for a loop. She froze! The pressure got to her! Before I could react, she ducked down behind the podium and left me holding the bag (so to speak). I figured that I would need to whisper most of her testimony into her ear, but completely bailing was unexpected -- to say the least.

Well, part of being the dad is to back her up. So I wrapped up (I knew that Jesus loved me too) and we headed back to our seats. I was surprised to find that my overwhelming reaction was a great sense of pride. She was so brave to want to get up there and really knew what the exercise was about. So she got a bit nervous! She's not even 4 yet! She was adorable and I was, again, so proud to be her dad.
