Who's Your (Gran)Daddy?

I realized even before I met Maren -- let alone before we married or Bridgette was born -- that I was going to be an older first-time father. I assumed that at some point people might think that I'm Bridgette's grandfather rather than her father; however, I didn't think this would become an issue until I was in my 50's. Well, Bridgette is only 6 months old and I am only 40, but today a store clerk asked me if she was my "first granddaughter." When I looked at her in shock and dismay, she quickly backtracked and asked if she was my daughter, but the damage was done. I'm old. What can you do?

But I don't want to be the sort of old man that spoils a good time for everyone, so I'll leave you with a wonderful picture of my gorgeous granddaughter...I mean daughter.

You must have been talking to a 15 year old who thinks anyone over 18 is a Grandpa. I must say I was impressed that you didn't let loose on her. Bridgette is so cute. Lock down the fort because Brig is mobile!!
